Review article “Target Expansion of Therapeutic Electrophysical Stimulation – For Advancement of Peripheral Nerve Regeneration and Rehabilitation -” published in Current Opinion in Biomedical Engineering.
This report summarizes the prospects for regenerative rehabilitation for peripheral nerve injury, focusing on electrophysical agents. Until now, direct stimulation of the injured area and stimulation of skeletal muscles, which are the effector organs, have been the main focus, but in the future, we have expanded the target area and described the possibility of approaches to spinal cord nerve cells and neuromuscular junctions.
